Ivan Kupala Day is definitely the most fun of all the Slavic holidays. It's celebrated on July 6th and 7th in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Poland. This is a joyous time when human feels at one with nature. And since everything's blooming, how can we keep from singing and having fun. On Ivan Kupala Night, Slavs have bonfires and jump over the flames, sing songs, and look for the fern flower that, legend has it, grants wishes.

Ивана Купала – это древний славянский праздник огня и очищения. Его отмечают в ночь с шестого на седьмое июля в России, Украине, Беларуси и Польше. В этот день люди идут на берег реки, поют песни, танцуют и зажигают костры.
Ivana Kupala is an ancient Slavic festival of fire and purification. It is celebrated on the night of the sixth to the seventh of July in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland. On this day, people go to the river bank, sing songs, dance and make fires.
Когда огонь становится меньше, через него прыгают влюблённые парочки. Парень должен был крепко держать за руку свою девушку, чтобы всегда быть вместе и любить друг друга много лет.
When the fire gets smaller, love couples jump through it. The guy had to hold his girlfriend’s hand tightly to be always together and love each other for many years.
Ещё на Ивана Купала девушки делают венки и кладут их на воду. Если венок поплывёт по воде, то девушка в этом году выйдет замуж. Если он утонет, то свадьбы не будет.
Bisides on Ivan Kupala girls make wreaths and put them on the water. If the wreath floats on the water, then the girl will marry If it drowns, then the wedding will not happen.
В древности самые смелые люди шли в лес искать цветок папоротника. Несмотря на то, что это растение никогда не цветёт, древние люди верили, что его цветок распускается только в ночь на Ивана Купала. Счастливчик, который найдёт цветок папоротника, может научиться понимать язык животных и растений, а также находить клады.
In ancient times, the bravest people went to the forest to look for a fern flower. Despite the fact that this plant never blooms, ancient people believed that its flower blooms only on the night of Ivan Kupala.
