Russian Phrases for Beginners. How to Say 'I Need' in Russian

Hello, my dear friends! In this lesson we are going to learn how to say 'I need' in Russian.

If you want to say that you need something in Russian, we will use the phrases Мне надо or Мне нужно.

If you need to do something, use the phrase Мне надо. For example,

Мне надо пойти в супермаркет. - I need to go to the supermarket.

Мне надо купить продукты. - I need to buy some foodstuff.

Мне надо купить новое платье. - I need to buy a new dress.


If you need something, use the phrases:

Мне нужен (masculine)

Мне нужен новый телефон. - I need a new phone.


Мне нужна (feminine)

Мне нужна новая машина. - I need a new car.


Мне нужно (neuter)

Мне нужно новое пальто. - I need a new coat.


Мне нужны (plural)

Мне нужны новые очки. - I need new glasses.
